Old Masters in New Light

The Franconian Gallery is a branch museum of the Bavarian National Museum Munich and presents masterpieces of the Gothic and Renaissance era. Meet the collections highlights by our guided tour! Learn more about the art of important Franconian Artists like Wolfgang Katzheimer, Hans Pleydenwurff, Durer-student Hans von Kulmbach or Tilman Riemenschneider. The artwork of Lucas Cranach the Elder (most celebrated son of Kronach), his son Lucas Cranach the Younger and their studio at Wittenberg is presented in a special Cranach-Room. 

The Franconian Gallery holds the most important collection of Franconian Art along with the German National Museum in Nuremberg.
